Assistant Principal's Report

Term 4: Report

Changes to Bell Times and Mentor Group for 2024

The College has spent considerable time investigating the impact the newly negotiated Victorian Government Schools Agreement will have on current operations and this has led to us making some necessary adjustments to the instructional program and schedule of the school day.

As a result, 2024 will see Mentor Group sessions include 2 x 15-minute Mentor Group sessions before period 1 on Mondays and Thursdays in addition to the weekly period that is allocated to the very popular and highly recommended “The Resilience Project”.

The implementation of the new structure will formally take place during our Headstart Program beginning Monday, November 27 and concluding Friday, December 8.

This will also mean an adjustment to dismissal times on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays for all students.

Course Confirmation November 21-23

Shortly, students and families in Years 10-12 2024 will be sent an email containing a letter indicating enrolled subjects for 2024 based on Course Counselling appointments conducted in late August this year.

Students who wish to make further amendments to their course selections are expected to contact the College by November 13 for an appointment to discuss alterations to their 2024 learning program. Students will be called out from class during November 21-23 for these discussions to take place. Please note, that while the College will do its best to accommodate based on recommendations, not all alterations are possible.

Students who do not require any changes to their 2024 learning program are required to read the supporting documents attached/hyperlinked to the email and return what is required by Monday 13 November.

Headstart 2024

Our Headstart program is scheduled for two weeks beginning on November 27 and concluding on December 8. It is a time when students transition into their 2024 year levels and 2024 classes, meet their 2024 teachers and begin establishing relationships with their 2024 peers.

While we are aware that not all students will have their 2024 textbooks and complete materials, students are expected to continue to bring with them their laptop, pencil case, planner and an exercise book that can be used for the two-week program.

During this time our 2024 Year 12 students will embark on their Year 12 Retreat at Melbourne University where they will partake in a number of VCE workshops to help prepare them for the VCE year ahead, be introduced to a number of guest speakers, including some past students, and tighten already strong bonds that exist within the cohort.
