Week 1 - A Fun Challenge Week

Hi all, and welcome to our TheirCare weekly recap.  We hope everyone have had nice break, and are looking forward to a fresh start in Term 2. This week at Lalor East TheirCare children have had a chance to participate in many meaningful learning experiences like creating sensory balls for our rest and relax corner, rearrange our space and set up new experiences like our art corner, painting corner, small group activities corner and book corner.

Children this week had a chance to talk about what we would like to have for our breakfast and afternoon tea, we also spoke about new activities that children would like to do during this term. It was also great to see children showing interest to participate in physical activities like basketball, down ball, tennis, red light green light, twister. 

Children also had a chance to take part of our cooking club and science experiences; it was fantastic to see children continue to show interest in science and cooking. Cooking introduces basic science concepts, like how heat changes the state of food or the role of yeast in baking.

Week 2 - Cooking is Science

Hi all and welcome to our TheirCare weekly recap. This week it was our science week here at Lalor East TheirCare. We started our week with cooking club and learn about how we can mix some simple ingrediencies to prepare delicious muffins. Children were also able to participate in play dough making experiment where they were able to work along their peers, engage in conversations, share ideas and help each other to create their own playdough. 

As the week progressed, we also enjoyed our outdoors where we water our garden and explored our outdoor playgrounds. Children also were encouraged to participate in clay making relaxation class where children were able to manipulate the clay with their hands and create different sculptures based on their imagination. 

Science provides a tangible connection to the world around us, helping children understand the relevance of what they learn. Children can relate scientific concepts to everyday experiences such as environmental issues or medical advancements, providing a lens through which they can understand and engage with the world around them.

Reminders:

Lalor East TheirCare also follows Sun Smart and as of 1 September, we encourage children when going outside to place suncream and sunhats.

Please make sure your child have a hat in their bag for when attending our session.

If your child requires special sunscreen please let the staff know, as we only carry 50+ homebrand. 

Parents are required to get their child/ren warmer jackets as we encourage and support indoor/outdoor play.

It would be amazing to have families share any recipes with us as we are starting with our Cooking club as of next week
