VCE news – March 2026

Term One has been rolling along as we await our move into the beautiful new Sacred Heart VCE centre. All of the VCE students have been excellent in adapting to a timetable of multiple classroom shifts, with their lockers being at one end of the school while their classes are held at the other!

Most VCE subjects are currently running their first round of SACs and assessments, with Year 12’s beginning to feel the pinch of study and multiple assessments coming at them from all sides. Most students are coping with the rigours of Year 12 and we have been encouraging them to make use of their diary and calendar to ensure they are well prepared for what is scheduled each week. It is important to note that the Year 12 assessment schedule is available on PAM in the “VCE specific” section (for anyone who hasn’t found it yet). Please reach out if you feel that your son or daughter is in need of some additional academic or wellbeing support, as we are only too willing to help.

Year 12 jumper orders close THIS Friday (13/3) and payments of $91.15 are due to the College general account.

All Year 12 students and parents have been sent emails containing ordering information and most people have already ordered and paid for their jumper. After the 13th of March, I will not be able to submit any more orders, so it is important that students complete their orders asap please!

Once we submit our order, it is expected that we will have them in six weeks, which should see them arriving the first couple of weeks of Term Two. Year 12 jumpers are not to be worn at official College events (e.g. Presentation Day or Mass) or offsite on excursions.

Edrolo Payments –

Please be advised that the closing date for Edrolo subscriptions in TUESDAY 17th March. We do still have several Yr 10 and 11 families who are yet to finalise their Edrolo. Last year, an email was sent out and a letter was given to all students in VCE subjects (not VM) as many classes in Year 11 use Edrolo as a vital study tool. Without it, some students will struggle to keep up with course work and assessments. If you require another copy of the letter, please reach out to the Office or myself asap. If possible, please ensure your subscription has been paid to Edrolo to ensure your son or daughter remains able to access the courses they require this year.

Driving Contracts –

These are mandatory for all students of driving age in Victorian schools and ensure that all students and parents understand the responsibilities of driving to and from school. Any St Mary’s student who is currently driving to school or will be driving this year is expected to complete and return a Driving Contract to the office asap. Parents received an email from Mr. Smith on Wednesday outlining the school (and state)

expectations. Any student or parent who wishes to discuss the driving policy is urged to contact Mrs. Kellie Graham at the office to make an appointment with the Principal.

Leaving early – Yr 12’s – As of Term Two, Year 12 students may choose to leave school once their timetabled classes have concluded for the day. However, permission from home to do so must be received by the office no later than 10am that same day. This may be in the form of PAM account, an email or phone call and students who are departing must sign out via the front office every time. Students without parent permission will not be allowed to leave early, even if they have private study. Parent support with this is truly appreciated.

Wishing everyone a great last few weeks of Term One!

Thank you
