📝REMINDER - Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF)

We would like to inform families that the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) is available again in 2026 to help eligible families with the cost of school activities such as camps, sports programs, outdoor education, excursions/incursions, and graduation events.

What’s new in 2026?

From 1 January 2026, CSEF support has increased to:

  • $400 per eligible student

Do you have one of these cards?

Families holding an eligible Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or temporary foster parents may qualify for CSEF. You can list more than one child on the same application if they attend our school.

  • Outdoor education activities
  • Excursions and incursions

How to apply

Application forms are available from the school office or can be requested via email (Schools must have a copy of the health care card and application form completed for their records).

If you have any questions or need assistance completing your application, please contact the school office. We are here to help.

🚗Reminder - Gate 4 & Carer Pick‑Up

Families may have already noticed that this gate remains closed during the school day. It will now only open from 8:30am for morning drop-off and 2:30pm for afternoon pick-up.

Please do not arrive before these times and wait at the gate, as this creates congestion and restricts the flow of traffic in the slip lane.

To ensure students are going home with authorised carers, they will now be required to check in at Reception to receive a “Carer Approved” card.  Staff will ask for this card before the student is released to them.  This helps staff confidently confirm that each student is being collected by an authorised person.

Carers using Gate 4 will be given a sign with the student's name clearly written on it for the car which they should place on the inside of their windscreen for staff to observe. This will allow entry into Gate 4 morning and afternoon and indicate they are an authorised person to pick up.

If someone arrives at the school without prior clearance or parent advice/approval, they will be asked to wait while we contact families for approval.

This is also a good reminder to ensure your phone numbers and emergency contact details are kept up to date.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all students.

👖UNIFORM

At Melton Specialist School, we are continuing to strengthen our focus on students wearing the school uniform each day.

Wearing the school uniform is an important part of our school culture, helping to create a strong sense of identity, belonging and pride within our community.

When students wear their uniform, they are instantly recognised as valued members of our school. It promotes inclusivity by reducing visible differences, supports a positive learning environment and helps students feel connected to their peers. Uniform also helps our staff and the wider community easily identify our students, supporting safety both on and off the school grounds.

Over the coming weeks, we will be working closely with students and families to encourage consistent uniform wear. This includes:

  • Celebrating students who wear their uniform with pride
  • Supporting families to access uniform items where needed
  • Providing gentle reminders for students each day

We understand that there may be times when wearing uniform can be challenging, and we are committed to working with families to ensure all students are supported in meeting expectations.

We thank our families for their ongoing support in helping our students represent MSS with pride. Together, we can strengthen our positive school culture and ensure every student feels a sense of belonging.

If you require assistance with school uniform, please contact the office—we are here to help.
