Greetings MSS Community,

My name is Bec and I am one of two social workers here at MSS. I am part of the Student Engagement Team (SET) which also consists of the following;

  • Youth Workers,
  • Digital Safety Mentor
  • Community Liaison Officer
  • Mental Health Practitioner
  • Chef
  • Food Assistants
  • Musicians

Each fortnight, our team will provide an overview in the newsletter of the ways we support our students and contribute to the broader school community.

FOODBANK

In this newsletter I would like to highlight the wonderful work of Foodbank at MSS and share the positive impact it continues to have within our school community.

With the ongoing cost of living, we are incredibly grateful for the generous support provided by Foodbank Australia. Their contributions play an important role in assisting our school community through support of our breakfast program, the provision of food items for family hampers and regular onsite visits throughout the school term.

If you have visited the Foodbank bus onsite, you may have enjoyed a hot drink and biscuit prepared and served by some of our students. This initiative provides a valuable opportunity for students to engage with members of the community while developing their communication, interpersonal, hospitality and social skills. It also encourages teamwork, collaboration and confidence in real -world settings.

If you would like further information about accessing Foodbank services or if you or your family require additional support, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Student Engagement Team through reception or email me directly – rebecca.baran@education.vic.gov.au

We look forward to providing information, sharing resources and showcasing what the Student Engagement Team does here at MSS!
