THE 5Ps of WHOLE-SCHOOL LITERACY IMPROVEMENT
If there are inconsistent literacy practices, differences in instructional routines between year levels, and a lack of depth and rigour across classrooms, it usually comes down to these five things:
-People
-Pedagogy
-Purpose
-Planning
-Practice
And, in that EXACT order.
Maybe the purpose isn’t yet clear enough.
Maybe planning looks strong, but classroom practice is inconsistent. Or maybe teachers are hesitant.
And when there’s resistance, it’s often not defiance, pushback, or “blocking” = it’s fear.
The goal is to work towards alignment, connection and consistency.
