Trustees Visit Brigidine College St Ives

Ministry visits are an important part of the life of Kildare Ministries, providing the Trustees with opportunities to spend time in our schools and community works, listen to the people who know them best and experience firsthand the many ways our shared mission comes to life in different contexts.

A recent visit to Brigidine College St Ives enabled the Trustees to connect with Principal Kate Quinane, the College Leadership Team, staff and students, and to learn more about the life of the College, its current priorities and its hopes for the future. Having commenced as Principal at the beginning of this year, Kate also shared some of her early reflections on the College community and the possibilities she sees ahead.

The newly appointed student leaders for 2027 led the Trustees on a tour of the College, sharing their perspectives on school life along the way. The tour included a visit to the College's new sports facility, the Cill Dara Centre, giving the Trustees the chance to see firsthand this significant new addition to the College and the opportunities it provides for student learning and wellbeing. Throughout the tour, the students spoke warmly of their experience at Brigidine College, expressing a strong sense of community and belonging and an obvious pride in their school.

The spirit of hospitality continued into the evening, when Year 10 Hospitality students prepared and served dinner for the Trustees and College Leadership Team. It was a memorable way to conclude the day and a wonderful chance to see the students putting their learning into practice. The care, skill and professionalism they brought to the occasion were impressive, but equally evident was the generosity with which they welcomed and cared for their guests.

Time with Kate and members of the Leadership Team allowed for thoughtful conversation about the life and future of Brigidine College. Discussions explored the opportunities facing the College and the priorities and aspirations shaping its future. Together with time spent with students and staff, these conversations gave the Trustees a deeper appreciation of the College community and of the thoughtful leadership and shared commitment guiding it into its next chapter.

Our sincere thanks to Kate Quinane, the College Leadership Team, staff and students of Brigidine College St Ives for their generous welcome and for sharing the life of their community with us. Particular thanks to the 2027 student leaders for sharing their school with such pride and enthusiasm, and to the Year 10 Hospitality students for the wonderful meal and generous hospitality.
