First Nations Peoples: Living Justice

The Trustees of Kildare Ministries are pleased to share their new Statement, First Nations Peoples: Living Justice.

Grounded in our Living Justice Living Peace Charter, the Statement reaffirms Kildare Ministries’ commitment to walking in solidarity with First Nations peoples and to building communities where every person is respected, every culture is honoured and every voice is heard.

The Statement affirms the inherent dignity of First Nations peoples, embraces the invitation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart, and calls us to deepen relationships through listening, partnership, truth-telling and action.

Its development has been informed by the wisdom and insights of the Kildare Ministries First Nations Network, together with feedback from Principals and Community Works Leaders. The Trustees are grateful to all who contributed to shaping the Statement and, in particular, to members of the First Nations Network for their generosity in sharing their perspectives and experience.

First Nations Peoples: Living Justice is deeply grounded in the Brigidine and Presentation traditions and their enduring call to stand with those who are marginalised, seek justice and honour the dignity of every person.

In sharing this Statement across Kildare Ministries, the Trustees invite each of us to consider how its commitments might find expression in our own communities, relationships and actions as together we continue the work of reconciliation and justice.
