🌿 Season of Creation 🌿

As part of the Season of Creation, September 7 marks Threatened Species Day, a day that reminds us of the importance of protecting Australia’s unique and precious wildlife and the environments they depend on.

Our Grade 5 students have been exploring Pope Francis’ Laudato Si’ and learning about its call for us to care for our common home. Through their learning, students have been reflecting on how our choices and actions can impact the natural world and the people and creatures who share it with us. Students are also being encouraged to think about how they can put this learning into practice at home and in their everyday lives. Simple actions such as reducing food and water waste, recycling, turning off lights and appliances when they are not needed, caring for plants and gardens, spending time in nature and looking after local wildlife can all make a difference. These small choices remind us that caring for creation is not something we only learn about at school, it is something we can live each day. 

The Season of Creation encourages us to recognise that caring for creation is an important part of our faith. We are reminded that we all have a role to play in protecting God’s creation and ensuring that our common home can flourish for generations to come.
