Dear Parents/Carers,
We enjoyed celebrating the wonderful dads and special men in our students’ lives at Sacred Heart’s first Father’s Day Celebration last Friday. It was heartwarming to see families come together to visit classrooms, play games, admire student learning, and create special memories. A highlight was watching students proudly share their classrooms and favourite learning spaces with their Dads. Thank you to all staff, families, and volunteers who helped make the morning such a success. Two community groups also got involved to make the morning special: the Lions Club (Cooking the BBQ) and Colac Braves (Baseball activities). Thank you!
A big thank you also to the group of Mums who organised the fantastic opportunity for our students to purchase a gift for their Dads. It was great to see the smiles on the children’s faces when they chose their special gift.
Pupil-Free Days – Term 4 Staff Collaboration Days
A reminder that there is no school on Friday 18th September as staff will be participating in Professional Development on School-Wide Positive Behaviour
DOBCEL (Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Ltd) has granted schools the opportunity to participate in collaborative professional development, aligned with a new long-term strategic plan.
As part of this, our school will hold two pupil-free days on Monday, October 5th and Tuesday, October 6th, during which staff will collaborate with St Mary's Colac and St Brendan's Coragulac on various aspects of school life.
As a result, students' first day of Term 4 will be Wednesday, October 7th.
Sacred Heart Outdoor Prayer Space!
We are excited to create a beautiful new outdoor prayer and liturgy space at our school — a special place for students and classes to gather, pray and reflect.
As part of this project, each family is invited to decorate a white tile (15cm x 15cm) with a design representing your family’s connection to nature, faith and caring for our common home, inspired by Laudato Si’. Your tile could include a family tree, the Earth, nature, a garden, a cross, or anything meaningful to your family.
Before the end of Term 3, we are hoping to send home with each family a tile and an attached letter, with all the appropriate information. This could be a family project for the school holidays. We look forward to seeing our beautiful collection of family tiles come together to create this special space!
R U OK? Day
This Thursday, our school community will come together to recognise R U OK? Day, an important reminder to check in with others, show that we care and start conversations that can make a difference. All students will participate in R U OK? Day activities, with teachers exploring the importance of looking out for one another, recognising when someone may need support and knowing how to ask, “Are you OK?” To show our support, students are encouraged to wear something yellow, the colour associated with R U OK? Day, as a visible symbol of kindness, connection and awareness across our school community.
"This day contributes to suicide prevention efforts by encouraging people to invest more time in personal relationships and building informal support networks. By having conversations and being alert to those around us, we can help identify signs of distress."

Hats
It has been great to see some children wearing their hats this week as we move back into our SunSmart routine. Some children have yet to bring their hat to school. Please ensure all children have a clearly named school hat at school by the beginning of next week.
