SCS New Logo Launch

Our new logo draws inspiration from the southern rose window of St Mary’s Cathedral, the mother church of the Archdiocese of Sydney. For centuries, rose windows have symbolised the light of Christ entering the world. The circular form speaks of eternity, unity and the perfection of God, while their intricate tracery brings strength and beauty, uniting many elements into one harmonious whole.

Drawing on this enduring symbol, the logo places Christ at the centre and unites our vibrant and diverse school communities in a shared Catholic identity. Its form expresses our pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty, while giving visual expression to wonder, wisdom and witness, the values at the heart of Magis 2033.

Like the rose window, this renewed symbol celebrates the richness of our schools, tradition and charisms. Each is distinct, yet all are united in our shared mission to educate the whole child, so that every young person can flourish and live a life of meaning, purpose and hope.

It cements our essence:

Grounded in Christ, Shaped in Tradition. Forming young people in wonder, wisdom and witness.

Social Justice Sunday - Sunday 30th August

A long tradition

The celebration of Social Justice Sunday is a long tradition in the Catholic Church in Australia. For almost every year since 1940, our bishops have joined together to issue a major social justice statement at this time.

Of course, the bishops also make statements on matters of social and ecological justice at other times throughout the year too. These are often issued by individual bishops delegated as spokespersons for particular issues, or by commissions of bishops. By contrast, the social justice statement issued in time for Social Justice Sunday is approved by and issued in the name of the whole bishops’ conference. It is hoped that these statements will inspire reflection and action throughout the whole year.
