Exciting News from KGT and the Environment Pillar

We’re thrilled to announce that we won First Prize in the Most Engaging Garden for Learning Category in the recent Victorian School Garden Awards. First prize is a voucher worth $1200 to spend at Nurseries and Garden suppliers. We will be meeting as a team to make a decision about a plan for this spending.

A special thanks to all the parents who have supported our program this year. A total of eight parents attended for the Awards and we have had a total of at least 15 helping in the program throughout the year. This has included parents, friends, family members and past students. Without this support it would not be possible to provide such a rich and rewarding learning experience for the Grade 5s and Environment Pillar leaders.

Our new vegetable crates are continuing to do well, and we will soon be harvesting our potatoes. These include a very special variety of Tasmanian potato - the pink eye! A rare treat at Christmas time. The basil, tomatoes, dill, rocket, sage and beautiful flowers are all doing well and will benefit from watering over Summer. If you are able to assist please email Claire Ballot at claire.ballot@education.vic.gov.au

We are very excited about our end of year activity on Thursday the 11th of December when we will be joined by the Eastern Alliance for Sustainable Learning and then enjoy some food and activities together.

Thanks again to everyone who has supported the program this year.

Stay tuned for the guinea pig naming competition results.

Happy Gardening,
