VCE Vocational Major

The St Mary's College VCE VM students have kicked off the 2026 school year with energy and a focus on community involvement. Below is a snippet of what we've been up to!
Â
đTo begin the year the Year 10 Ignite students as well as Year 11 and 12 VCE VM students welcomed George (Clancy) Lester, The Bee Man, who visited the school to run an information and workshop session on environmental education about pollinators and native bees. Clancy introduced us to the concept of creating âbee hotelsâ - small, safe habitats designed to support native bees. This hands-on workshop not only helped us develop practical skills but also deepened our understanding of the important role pollinators play in our ecosystem. Plus we got to create our own bee hotels!
Â
Â
đThe Year 11 and Year 12 students proudly ran a barbecue at the đââď¸College Swimming Carnival to support hungry competitors, representing the College with pride and fundraising towards community projects which will run during 2026. Events like these provide valuable opportunities for VCE VM students to engage in teamwork, planning and organisation, and real-world learning experiences.
Â
Â
đThe VCE VM students attended a Road to Zero session at Melbourne Museum on Thursday 26th February. This interactive program focuses on road safety awareness and aims to empower young drivers to make safe and responsible choices. In addition, our Year 12 VCE VM students are preparing to take part in some bushfire relief support work in our communities by giving back to those in need.  We're also planning to contribute to the upcoming Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 10th March, with ideas aplenty so watch this space!
Â
It has been a positive start to the year for our VCE VM students and we look forward to continuing to grow, contribute, and make a difference throughout 2026.
