Student Led Conferences Tuesday 23rd June

Dear Karoo Community,

To acknowledge and celebrate the learning journey of all students at Karoo Primary School, we are excited to once again offer Student Led Conferences at the end of Term 2.

Student Led Conferences are an important opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning and proudly share their progress with parents and carers. These conferences support student engagement, reflection and goal setting, while strengthening the partnership between home and school.

Below is some helpful information about how Student Led Conferences will operate at Karoo Primary School in 2026.

How long is the Student Led Conference?

Parents and carers should allow approximately 15 minutes per child in Foundation to Year 6.

The conference will focus on:

• student successes and achievements
• areas requiring support or further growth
• future learning goals
• student reflection and progress

Parents and carers will also have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss ways to support their child’s learning goals at home.

How will Student Led Conferences work?

The conference will be divided into two parts:

Part 1: 10 minutes

Students will attend the conference with their parents/carers and lead the discussion about their learning. Students will share examples of their work, reflect on their learning experiences and discuss their strengths, challenges and goals.

Part 2: 5 minutes

Time will be allocated for parents/carers and teachers to discuss any additional matters without the student present if required.

When are the Student Led Conferences?

Student Led Conferences will be held onsite at Karoo Primary School.

Available Times — Tuesday 23rd June

• Foundation to Year 6: 9:15am – 11:30am
• Foundation, Year 1, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 6 2:30-3:30pm
• Foundation to Year 6: 3:50pm – 5:05pm
• Year 2 to Year 6: 5:35pm – 6:50pm

In addition, parents and carers will also have the opportunity to book a meeting time with Specialist Teachers between 3:50pm and 7:00pm.

How do I book a conference time?

Parents and carers will be required to book a 15-minute time slot with their child’s teacher via Compass.

Bookings will also be available for Specialist Teacher meetings through Compass.

Bookings open: Friday 5th June

Bookings close: Thursday 18th June

Further information will be provided closer to the date, including room locations and what parents/carers can expect during the conference.

We know our students and teachers are excited to share the learning that has taken place throughout the semester.

As always, parents and carers are encouraged to contact their child’s teacher at any time throughout the year should they wish to discuss their child’s achievement, wellbeing or growth.
