SWPBS

The week 3 & 4 focus for SWPBS has been on Respect - Leave rubbish inside.
Respecting our school environment means taking responsibility for where we leave our rubbish. Keeping rubbish inside classrooms and placing it in the correct bins helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming space for everyone, while also reducing litter in outdoor areas and protecting our environment. If rubbish is taken outside, there are bins to use. Teaching responsibility and accountability for the disposal of that rubbish is also important.
At home, families can support this by:
Encouraging your child to always put rubbish straight into a bin rather than carrying it around
Talk about the impact of litter on the environment and school pride
Practise packing lunchboxes so rubbish can be easily managed (e.g. reusable containers instead of wrapping food in plastic)
Reinforce simple habits like “use it, bin it” after eating or activities
Model responsible behaviour by disposing of waste properly at home and when out and about
- Clear the table after dinner, set expectations such as putting dishes in the dishwasher or by the sink (after clearing food scraps into the appropriate bins) and do this together to model good behaviours
Working together, we can build respectful habits that make a big difference.
