Principal's Report

CELEBRATING MOTHER’S DAY
It was a lovely day on Sunday, and we hope all of the mums in our school community had a lovely Mother’s Day.
It was really nice last week to see a range of things happening at both campuses in the lead up to Mother’s Day. Everything we can do to help students grow up to be thoughtful, kind and appreciative is worth the effort and celebrating our mums around Mother’s Day is a perfect opportunity to do just that.
The long-standing tradition of our Scotsburn families to gather for a Mother’s Day Breakfast continued. As you can see from the photos, the Scotsburn community enjoy coming together for this event and making a fuss of the mums.
The third edition of a Mother’s Day Breakfast for our Buninyong campus mums was very successful. We had 200 mums and kids in the Bowling Club, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed a delicious and relaxing breakfast. Thanks again to Tracey C and her team of helpers for rustling up a great spread of food.
We look forward to gathering our dads for a Father’s Day Breakfast events at both campuses later in the year.
FAREWELL TO JARROD RODGERS
Tomorrow we bid farewell to Jarrod who has been appointed to an assistant principal role at Mt Pleasant PS. It was inevitable that Jarrod would take this next step we’ve been lucky to keep him as long as we have.
Over the past four years Jarrod has done an outstanding job in the role of Disability and Inclusion Leader at our school and has had a positive impact on the individual students and families in his care. Whilst this has included a strong record of getting funding for students, it has also included leading our teacher aide team and building their capacity to support our kids, regular communication with families and many hours of supporting kids when they are having a rough day.
Jarrod has certainly brought a level of energy to the school, which families would have seen through interactions with him, but also through assemblies and events such as colour runs.
We appreciate the contribution that Jarrod has made to our school and know that he will have a big impact on Mt Pleasant and other schools he works with in the future. We congratulate Will Georgiou, who will take over the role of Disability and Inclusion Leader. Will has worked closely with Jarrod over the past few years, so has a strong understanding of the role and we know he will do a great job of carrying on Jarrod’s work.
