Happy Week at POPS
Year 4 students had a wonderful time at Sovereign Hill. They tried gold panning, toured an underground mine, shopped on Main Street, watched a light show, and made candles and lollies, all while enjoying great weather. Thank you to Ms Owen, Miss Chen, and Mrs Bullen for organising and supporting the camp, and to Mr Jackson, Mr Beal, and Mr Cornwell for helping staff and students.
This week, our POPS team took part in District Athletics. The students showed great effort and sportsmanship, winning the track events and finishing second overall. Congratulations to those moving on to Division Athletics. Thank you to Mrs Carbone for leading the team and to all the staff who supported students at the track.
Australian National Flag – 125th Anniversary & APH Flag Roadshow
Today marks the 125th anniversary of the Australian National Flag. Tomorrow our Year 5/6 students will take part in the Australian Parliament House Flag Roadshow, led by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon Milton Dick MP.
As part of the visit, one of the flags that flies above Parliament House in Canberra will travel to POPS. Students will observe the ceremonial unfurling of the flag and learn about its history, key features and importance to Australia’s national identity. A group photo will be taken before the flag is carefully rolled and stowed for its next stop on the national tour.
Parking Changes – Bowmore Avenue
Manningham Council has approved the parking changes in Bowmore Avenue. The current 1/4P spaces in front of the school will be replaced with ‘Kiss & Go’ restrictions. Under these rules, parents must remain in their car and may only stop for up to 2 minutes to pick up students from the gate.
Council will also install additional advisory ‘Kiss & Go’ signs beneath the ‘No Parking’ signs where possible to support clear communication for families. These updates are planned for the September holidays and will begin in Term 4.
Father’s / Special Person’s Day – Open Classroom
Tomorrow morning 8:45- 9:30 am we will hold an open classroom for Fathers and Special People to visit children’s classrooms, take part in an activity, and see their learning spaces.
The PA has kindly organised a coffee voucher from The Corner Café and a special cookie for all Fathers and Special People. They will also be running the Father’s / Special Person Stall, where students can purchase a gift.
Please ensure your child brings money and a bag to carry any purchases.
REMINDER: Dogs on School Grounds
We have noticed that some dogs are being brought onto the school grounds. In line with our school policy, dogs are not permitted on school grounds in particular during operational hours (7:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Thank you for your cooperation in helping maintain a calm and safe environment for our school community.
Student Achievements
Please continue to share student achievements big or small for the whole school community and acknowledge.
Congratulations to Milla C and Amalie R on winning their U12 NRJFC Junior Footy Grand Final. A wonderful effort and a great way to finish the season.

Wishing all the fathers and special people in our lives a very happy day on Sunday.
