Events from Term 2

We’ve had some exciting events taking place throughout this term. Check them out below!

At the start of May, our Teesdale PS school leaders attended the annual Geelong Young Leaders’ Breakfast! As always, a fantastic event hosted by North Geelong Secondary College for our school leaders! This year featured guest speaker Laura Hingston, World Championship 10m diver. From overcoming career-ending back surgery at 15 to rising to 5th in the world, Laura Hingston has forged an extraordinary path as a 3x National Champion, international medallist, and key member of the Australian Diving Team. Laura shared her story of overcoming challenges, losses, and injury and how she focuses on training smarter not harder, visualisations and goal-setting. Our leaders then took part in a team lego building competition - taking out the number 1 spot!

Towards the end of May, Max, Ayla and Alexie attended a writer’s workshop hosted by the Golden Pens at Shelford PS. We had a fantastic time brainstorming story and character ideas, sharing with each other, receiving feedback on ways to improve our creative writing and even tried our hand at poetry too! What a great opportunity to engage with published authors from our own community.

Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge - Open now!

Term 2 Curriculum Committee is keeping a strong focus on reading at home this term. We also have some other projects that we’re working on too! The Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge has started this term and we’re excited to be involved again this year. Students can earn additional certificates and prizes on top of the TPS reading incentives for simply logging every book they read - win win! Even the books we read at school count! Classroom teachers have students’ log in details earlier this term.
