Foundation

Foundation students loved working on their Monsters whilst exploring primary and secondary colours.  They are now exploring warm and cool colour theory as they prepare painted papers and personal hand-prints before putting together mixed-media Peacock collages.

Year 1/2

Year 1 & 2 students completed such delightful mixed-media Duck portraits inspired by contemporary Australian artist, Kerri Blades. Their Duck’s individual personalities are definitely shining through their artworks!  Students are now learning about Claude Monet as they explore a range of painting  applications to create textured, impressionist landscapes. Stay tuned for the final results!

Year 3 & 4 students are currently learning about Sandra Silberzweig and how she incorporates her synaesthesia within her art style.  Their preliminary portraits are coming along well as they explore how to blend and colour with soft pastels.

Year 5/6

Year 5 & 6 students have been working very hard to complete the many stages of their Hundertwasser inspired whimsical landscapes. Year 6 students have also been juggling their design, construction and decoration of a Carnival of Venice Mask.  We look forward with high anticipation towards Year 6 Graduation, where their wonderful creations will be on display.

2026 Goldstein Christmas & Hanukkah Card Design Competition

Invitation for Ormond Primary School Students to Participate in the 2026 Goldstein Christmas and Hanukkah Card Design Competition

Ormond Primary School has been contacted by Tim Wilson, our federal member for Goldstein, to participate in their yearly Christmas & Hanukkah Card Design Competition.

Each year, the Goldstein Electorate Office sends 65,000 joint Christmas and Hanukkah cards to households across Bayside, Glen Eira and Kingston.

It is a tradition of our community to use this card as an opportunity to celebrate young local artists and provide local primary school students the opportunity to design the cover of the card and have their artwork celebrated by their school, neighbours and wider community.

Students are invited to submit entries on the template, drawing an image meaningful to them on the theme of this year: Christmas / Hanukkah In My Neighbourhood.

From the entries received, finalists will be selected. Two winners will be chosen, one for Christmas and one for Hanukkah. The winners will have their artwork appear on each side of the card's external covers, with additional honourable mentions to feature inside the card. Judging will be conducted by a local panel of artists as well as Tim Wilson. Winners will each receive a book prize, and finalists will receive certificates at a morning tea for finalists, family members and friends, as well as teachers.

For more information you can visit Tim Wilson’s website: www.timwilsonmp.com.au/cardcomp

For the template, please see the Compass post that was sent on 09 September 9 or visit the front office for a hardcopy.

To allow for judging and printing, entries must be received by 5pm, 30 October 2026.

By high-quality colour scan: tim.wilson.mp@aph.gov.au

By mail/drop-off: 677 Nepean Highway, Brighton East VIC 3187

Alternatively you can drop in your entry to the front office and we will deliver them on your behalf.  If you choose this option all entries must be provided to us no later than Wednesday 28 October.

Happy Card Designing!!
