Assembly - Monday 25 May

Our next Primary School Assembly will take place on Monday 25 May in The Farrall Centre and will commence at 2.15pm. We welcome members of our community to attend. Please remember that due to privacy concerns and to respect the photo permission choices of other families we ask you to refrain from taking photos and videos during assemblies.

Moderation Day Vacation Care Bookings - Close 6.00pm Tuesday 2 June 

Please find our upcoming Vacation Care Program for the Moderation (Student Free) Day on Friday 5 June 2026 here. Bookings will be processed via Xap Smile. If you are new to our service and would like to request bookings for your child/ren, please click on the link here. Existing Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) families click here to request bookings for your child/ren. Bookings close at 6.00pm, Tuesday 2 June 2026. If you have any queries, please contact our Admin team via feladmin@friends.tas.edu.au or call 6210 2276 for assistance.

Earthcare Excursion Days - Mondays 25 May and 1, 15, 22 and 29 June

Our Kindergarten Earthcare Excursion Days will be starting in Week 4 and will run every Monday until Week 9. Our first days will be at Knocklofty Reserve. We will travel to and from the site by bus, departing at 12.30pm and returning to school at 2.15pm. 

 

  • The Cockatoos first excursion will be in Week 4 on Monday 25 May
  • The Forest Ravens first excursion will be in Week 5 on Monday 1 June

 

After these separate trips, we hope to travel as one group together each week, on Mondays 15, 22 and 29 June. Please note that the times will change for later excursions to allow for a longer period of discovery and play. Collection time for all children will remain at 3.00pm in the Kindergarten, at the end of the day as per usual. 

Years 3/4 Primary Cross Country - Wednesday 27 May

The Years 3/4 Cross Country will be held on Wednesday 27 May at our Bell Street fields. Students will be transported to the venue at 12.00pm via bus accompanied by classroom teachers. The carnival will conclude at 2.00pm and students will be bused back to school. Parents and friends are invited to attend.  

 

Approximate times of events:

  • 12.30pm: Year 3 Girls
  • 12.45pm: Year 3 Boys
  • 1.00pm: Year 4 Girls
  • 1.15pm: Year 4 Boys

The Years 5/6 Cross Country will be held on Thursday 28 May at our Bell Street fields. Students will be transported to the venue at 12.00pm via bus accompanied by classroom teachers. The carnival will conclude at 2.00pm and students will be bused back to school. Parents and friends are invited to attend.

Primary All Schools Cross Country - Symmons Plains - Tuesday 16 June 

The Primary All Schools Cross Country at Symmons Plains will be held on Tuesday 16 June, following the JSSATIS Interschool Carnival on Wednesday 10 June at Soldiers Memorial Walk, The Domain.  This year, the School will contact families of students who are considered likely to be competitive at the Symmons Plains event and provide further details. Families who wish for their child to participate will need to arrange their own transport and supervision for the day. The School will continue to manage the administration process, including event nominations and entry fees.

Prep Outdoor Education Excursion - Fern Tree Park - Thursday 28 May

On Thursday 28 May, Prep students will be participating in an Outdoor Education Day at Fern Tree Park and completing a walk to Silver Falls.  Class teachers, learning assistants and Emily Ardas, our Outdoor Education teacher,  will accompany the students on the excursion. We will be departing school at 9.45am and returning at 1.00pm. The aim of the day is to explore the local bushlands while developing relationships with peers. Students are required to wear their Physical Education uniform and sturdy shoes to walk in and bring a backpack with morning tea and lunch, a rain jacket, water bottle, a warm jumper, beanie and sun hat. No lunch orders on this day. Please update student Paperly profiles before the excursion.

Year 4 Outdoor Education Excursion - Rangeview Crescent Reserve - Friday 29 May

On Friday 29 May, Year 4 students will head to Rangeview Crescent Reserve for a science-focused, Outdoor Education excursion. Students will participate in a number of activities where they will put scientific forces into action. We will depart school at 9.15am and return by 3.00pm. Students should wear sports uniforms on this day, but will need to bring a warm jumper (wool, polar fleece or puffer jacket), beanie and a waterproof raincoat as it could be very cold. As we will be away from school for most of the day, students will need to bring a large packed lunch (no lunch orders), snacks and water bottle from home. Years 5 and 6 Physical Education lessons - Gymnastics at Kingborough

The Years 5 and 6 PE classes will be participating in gymnastics sessions at Kingborough Gymnastics Centre over the following weeks:

 

  • Mondays 1, 15, 22 and 29 June - Year 6 (leave 12.00pm return 2.00pm)
  • Wednesdays 3, 17, 24 June and 1 July - Year 5 (leave 12.00pm return 2.00pm)

 

Students will travel by bus to and from the venue with Lisa Di Venuto and their classroom teachers. Any further information required please contact Lisa Di Venuto

Prep Excursion - Linear Park, Lenah Valley – Wednesday 3 June

On Wednesday 3 June, Prep will visit the Labyrinth at Linear Park for a transdisciplinary learning experience, centred around the Quaker testimony of Earthcare. We will be looking for provocations in the environment. We will leave school by bus at 11.50am and return to school by 1.50pm.

 

Children will be required to wear appropriate and sturdy shoes/gumboots. Due to the nature of the activities we would suggest children wear warm items. They will need to bring a change of clothes, as well as a warm coat/rain jacket.  Please ensure that students have ample water to drink too. Please note that we do not require parent help for this excursion. 

Year 3 Outdoor Education Excursion - Mt Field - Wednesday 3 June

On Wednesday 3 June, as part of our Outdoor Education program, all Year 3 students will be visiting Mount Field National Park. The bus will depart at 9.00am and return at 3.00pm. The bus will drop us off at the visitor centre and we will walk through the forest exploring the vegetation and waterfalls. Students are required to wear their PE uniform with comfortable shoes for walking and carry in their backpacks an additional warm jumper, waterproof raincoat, hat, beanie, drink bottle, lunch and snacks. Please make sure students come with sufficient warm clothing and food and water for the day. There should be no lunch orders. Emily Ardas, our Outdoor Education Teacher, will be accompanying us. 

 

As this excursion will be outside the greater Hobart area, the School requires the permission of families for students to attend. To enable your child to attend, could you kindly complete the permission request on Paperly. Please ensure all of your child’s  details are up to date in Paperly.

If your child will be absent from school for the day please advise the Primary School Office (phone: 6210 2228, or email: primaryschooloffice@friends.tas.edu.au) and the classroom teacher before 8.45am. We appreciate your support in this process.
