Deputy Principal News

Hello everyone,

As part of our child safety obligations our staff have been involved in exploring Child Safe Standard 2. We are using resources provided from MACS CARE -

MACS CARE signals that child safety is a shared responsibility and that every child’s wellbeing is central to everything we do.

Please find information regarding Child Safe Standard 2 below.

Child Safety Compliance Advice for Swimming

St Anthony's is a Child Safe School that actively promotes the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children.

In order to comply with Child Safe Standards we must take deliberate steps to ensure the care, wellbeing and protection of children and young people.

Particular attention to child safety at swimming includes:

  • At no time should any parent be alone in the change rooms with students

  • No parents are permitted into the change rooms with the students. Prep parents will be able to enter the changerooms to assist their child after the class has finished using the space. Any Prep parents wishing to do so will need to provide the school with a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC paperwork must be handed into the office prior to attending swimming)

  • Parents who attend swimming are not to dress any child that is not their own

  • Parents from other Year Levels 1-6 are not permitted in the change rooms (it is an expectation that students in these year levels dress themselves in the change rooms after swimming)

  • Students use a change room that is separate from the general public

  • Parents are permitted to watch from the viewing area at the upper level

  • No photos or videos can be taken at the swimming pool

  • If your child is not confident in dressing themselves, please take the school holidays to help practice with them

  • Snacks and drinks are not to be provided to your child at the swimming pool

Have a wonderful, restful and safe Easter break !

Kind regards,

James
