Wear it Yellow - Reconciliation Week

This week we acknowledged National Reconciliation Week at Holy Cross. The theme for 2024 was 'Now more than ever'. Today the children were invited to 'wear it yellow' and bring a gold coin donation for Children's Ground. This organisation is run by First Nations people and aims to create "a new future for our next generations. A future full of opportunity and hope". Thank you to our Social Justice Leaders for organising this fundraising event. We were able to raise $207 today.

Sensory Garden

This week in Outdoor Education the Year 3s and 4s started making a sensory garden within the Japanese garden. Caitlyn had the idea to make it, and there are different groups in each class working on different areas. We will also have stepping stones that we made in art that will go in the middle.

In the sensory garden there will be seats so you can sit down and relax. There will be the five senses of hearing, touch, smell, taste and sight. There will be different garden beds with different plants in each one, but for the sense of sound there will be some musical instruments like pipes painted rainbow.

We love getting out in the garden with Caitlyn and having different kinds of things to do every week. Sometimes we will go to the garden and weed or do more planting.

We are looking forward to working on this and we will keep you updated.

District Soccer

Last Friday our boys and girls soccer teams competed at the District soccer. Although the weather was gloomy the games were action-packed and exciting.

The girls team became stronger and stronger with every game, refining their tactics when attacking and defending. We saw some excellent performances all around, including some stand-out first timers who played like experts. Thank you to the experienced and supportive parents who came along to the game, assisted with the coaching and cheered the girls on.

The boys team debuted on the full-size pitch, digging deep to maintain the pace and consistency of the game across the day. Every team-member worked to their full capacity to keep Holy Cross in the game for the finals. The boys delivered relentless and intense shots at goal, proving themselves a challenging team to beat. A big thank you to Cate and Naomi for coaching the boys team and supporting the training sessions.

Well done Holy Cross - you made us so proud.

Division Cross Country

Congratulations to our Division Cross Country competitors - Adrian Avenell, James Dwyer, Finnan Howley, Isabella Howley, Jameson Howley, Ivy Ogle and Oliver Spiteri who competed at the Division Cross Country in Bacchus Marsh this Thursday. We are very proud of your sportsmanship and the wonderful way you represented Holy Cross. Some of our athletes will be going on to race at the Regional event in June. We wish you the best of luck.
