Principal's Report

As the mornings grow lighter, and the evening longer, it reminds us that we are entering Spring. It really is hard to believe that we are at the end of Term 3. Once again this fortnight, I have had so many opportunities to feel proud of our amazing Syndal South Primary community. As always, it has been wonderful to see our students, staff and families continuing to engage so positively in the many learning opportunities and community events taking place across our school.

Number Fluency Program

We are excited to be continuing the implementation of our new Number Fluency Program across the school. Every student has now completed their screener assessment, providing teachers with valuable information about each child's current understanding and number knowledge.

In Term 4, all classes will begin daily 15-minute Number Fluency sessions. These short, focused sessions will support students to build confidence, automaticity and flexibility when working with numbers. Developing strong number fluency is an important foundation for future mathematical learning, ensuring students have the knowledge and skills to successfully approach more complex problems. We are looking forward to seeing the benefits of this consistent whole-school approach as the program becomes part of our daily learning routines.

Celebrating Our School Community

It has also been wonderful to see our school community coming together for a number of special events. Our Father's Day Breakfast and Stall were a fantastic opportunity for students to celebrate the important fathers and special people in their lives. Thank you to everyone who attended, enjoyed a cheese toastie and helped make these events such an enjoyable occasion for our students and families.

We were also incredibly proud to see our choir take to the stage for their very first performance at assembly this week. Performing in front of an audience takes courage and confidence, and our students did a wonderful job. It was lovely to see their hard work and enthusiasm come to life through their performance. A huge thank you to Mr Kahans and Zoe Farr for leading our choir and preparing them for their first performance.

This week, we are also cheering on our very talented Aerobics students as they compete at the National Aerobics Championships on the Gold Coast. Reaching a national competition is a wonderful achievement and reflects the tremendous commitment, perseverance and dedication shown by our students and their coaches. We wish them every success and are incredibly proud of them for representing Syndal South Primary School. Thank you to our coaches Lucy and Georgia and also to Miss Dodson and Mrs Searle for their enormous efforts in leading the aerobics teams this year.

Child Safety Policy Update

As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a vigilant and proactive child safe environment, our updated Child Abuse (Including Grooming) – Identification and Response Policy has recently been ratified by School Council. The updated policy reflects our continued commitment to protecting children from harm and ensuring that all staff understand their responsibilities in identifying, responding to and reporting concerns about child abuse and grooming. Child safety remains a shared responsibility across our whole school community, and we will continue to prioritise practices that ensure every student feels safe, respected and supported at Syndal South Primary School. Finally, I would like to remind families about the Parent Opinion Survey. Your feedback is extremely valuable and provides the school with important information about what we are doing well and where we can continue to improve. The results help inform our future planning and improvement priorities, and we would greatly appreciate parents and carers could take the time to complete the survey.
