FRIDAY 21 FEBRUARY 2025

BEAUMARIS CHILDREN’S PLAYHOUSE VISIT || Yesterday, our Year 12 Vocational Major students kicked off their community project with a visit to Beaumaris Children’s Playhouse. As their first activity, students supported the Playhouse in completing OH&S audits, focusing on playground equipment, structures, sheds and general facilities. This hands-on experience directly contributes to their progress in Unit 3 Work Related Skills, reinforcing their learning in a real-world setting. They’re looking forward to their regular visits and can’t wait to make a meaningful impact through this initiative!

EXPLORING WATER MANAGEMENT AT ELSTER CREEK || Today, our Year 7 students visited Elster Creek to explore different perspectives on water and how our local landscape shapes its movement. They also learned about the importance of effective water management plans in protecting our environment. A great hands-on experience connecting classroom learning to the real world!

SENIOR GIRLS CRICKET || Hard-fought match today for our Senior Girls Cricket team in the SMR quarter-finals. Despite a stellar effort, they narrowly lost by just 3 runs. Shoutout to Lilly R for her outstanding 67 not out!

YEAR 8 BEST AT RICKETTS POINT || Our Year 8 BEST students have had a great time snorkelling at Ricketts Point this week! Alongside exploring the reef, they investigated the classification of intertidal species, completed a reef ramble and gathered observations for their Term 1 PBL. A perfect blend of adventure and learning!

WILSONS PROM ADVENTURE || This week, our Year 9/10 ‘The Great Outdoors’ students embraced the adventure at Wilsons Prom on a 3-day camp! From hiking through stunning landscapes to setting up camp at Little Waterloo Bay and Roaring Meg, they built resilience, teamwork and real-life connections with their learning. With students self-catering for the entire journey, it was a wonderful opportunity for independence and problem-solving.

BACK ON THE AIRWAVES || Our Year 8 and 9 students have done a fantastic job stepping up to the mic for live hour-long shows on air at 88.3 Southern FM this term! We are grateful to Southern FM for this wonderful opportunity, which allows our students to gain hands-on experience in radio broadcasting as part of our ongoing partnership. Stay tuned to 88.3 on Thursday mornings from 8 – 9am for more shows next term!

EMPOWERING OUR STUDENT LEADERS || Our 2025 student leaders gathered at the MCC Pavilion yesterday for an engaging Student Leadership Conference. They set ambitious goals, championed advocacy and drew inspiration from guest speaker Hayley Allen and our Student Engagement & Voice Team. Lily G-P and Valentino B, our College Captains, facilitated an icebreaker activity aimed at fostering relationships and collaboration. We were delighted to welcome student leaders from neighbouring primary schools, strengthening our shared commitment to leadership. Wishing all our young leaders a year of growth, achievement and success!

INDUSTRY IMMERSION || Yesterday, our Year 12 VCE Vocational Major students visited Fildes and McCormick Foods as part of their Work Related Skills Unit. This experience allowed students to explore the dynamics of a healthy, collaborative workplace and gain insight into workplace structures, culture and employer expectations. They also had the chance to speak with employers and learn more about the manufacturing industry firsthand.

TUESDAY 4 MARCH 2025

YEAR 7 BOYS SHINE AT DIVISIONAL CRICKET || Congratulations to our Year 7 Boys Divisional Cricket team! They battled through the pool stage, securing a spot in the final with a tight result decided by run rate. Despite a hard-fought contest in the sun, they finished second on the day. A fantastic effort from all players, showing great sportsmanship and team spirit. Well done, team!

HOUSE SWIMMING CARNIVAL || We had an amazing day at Oakleigh Swimming Pool for our House Swimming Carnival yesterday! Congratulations to all students for their outstanding team spirit and pride in representing their houses. The event was filled with excellent sportsmanship—stay tuned for the results in today’s newsletter!
