Hospitality at Wellsprings

Wellsprings for Women: Living Hospitality through Every Door Opened

Hospitality is at the heart of everything we do at Wellsprings for Women. Every program, every conversation, and every connection is designed to welcome women into a space where they feel safe, respected, and valued. Our work is rooted in recognising the dignity and potential of every woman, regardless of her background or journey.

Since last year, our Settlement Support Program has created meaningful pathways for hundreds of newly arrived women and their families to navigate life in Australia with guidance and care. From accessing essential services like housing and legal support, to receiving help with Centrelink, referrals, and wellbeing support, women are met with compassion and cultural sensitivity from the moment they walk through our doors. This tailored work ensures that those who may have experienced displacement, trauma, or disconnection are met with warmth, patience, and practical assistance.

Our Grow Green Community Garden project has become a powerful expression of community hospitality and collective resilience. Local women from diverse cultural backgrounds gather each week in Noble Park to cultivate food, care for the earth, and care for each other. The garden offers more than shared produce; it builds bridges across languages, life experiences, and cultural differences. It is a living symbol of how environmental justice, food security, and social inclusion can thrive together.

We also continue to deliver a wide range of programs that provide connection, skills, and confidence—English classes, women’s wellbeing groups, employment readiness training, playgroups, and volunteering opportunities. Each of these is designed in collaboration with participants, ensuring women feel ownership and agency in their own journeys. Across these programs, we see the transformative power of welcome in action: women who arrive uncertain and isolated become leaders, friends, and advocates for others.

At Wellsprings, hospitality is not a single gesture. It is a way of being with others that fosters dignity, community, and hope. It is present in the way our staff listen, in the way our volunteers show up, and in the quiet, everyday acts that say to each woman: you are welcome, you belong, and you matter here.
