REMINDER: Tertiary institution Open Days running up to early September
Attending Open Day events is highly recommended for Year 12 students planning to undertake tertiary study. They provide unique and valuable opportunities to explore tertiary course options and their graduate outcomes, learn more about courses of interest from academics and current tertiary students, whilst checking out the tertiary institution's facilities and services.
Any student considering tertiary study in the next few years is encouraged to attend Open days – they are a great investment of your time and preparing beforehand will see you benefit the most from your Open day experience. VTAC information webinars for students and parents
VTAC is running free webinars to assist both applicants and the school community in understanding various topics relevant to making a VTAC application. Those supporting a Year 12 student during the VTAC application period are encouraged to attend. A list of upcoming webinars with links to register can be found below and on the VTAC website here: www.vtac.edu.au/events. After each webinar, the recordings will be uploaded to view on VTAC’s YouTube Channel.

REMINDER: VTAC Parents & Caregivers Guide
Are you currently supporting a person who is considering tertiary education? VTAC’s online Parents & Caregivers Guide provides parents and carers with clear information, practical advice, and helpful resources to build their understanding of the VTAC application process. It explains each stage of applying through VTAC and offers guidance and tips to help you support your young person throughout the application journey.
REMINDER: ADFA Open Day 2026 – Saturday 15 August, 9am to 4pm
The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) runs their Open day every year in August. You can join online or in person to:
- Explore world-class UNSW degrees, with information sessions about Business, Arts, Science, Engineering, Computing and Cyber Security.
- Learn about military training, studying and life on campus from current ADFA Trainee Officers.
- Watch a variety of exciting displays, take a virtual tour, and much more.

Swinburne Engineering Info Session – Thursday 20 August, 5pm to 7pm
Join Swinburne University of Technology at their Hawthorn campus for a deep dive of their Bachelor of Engineering. You’ll get a breakdown of their different majors, hear about scholarships, and visit some of the labs used by engineering students. Current students will also be sharing their experiences – including why they chose Swinburne for engineering. This info session will include:
- a 60-minute presentation on the Bachelor of Engineering, including a Q&A
- networking with Swinburne staff, students and industry partners
- a look at our Smart Structures and Digital Construction labs
- complimentary light refreshments.

Swinburne University Aviation Info Session for Future Students – Wednesday 26 August, 5:30pm to 7:30pm
Join Swinburne University of Technology at their Hawthorn campus to get all the need-to-know details on studying aviation at Swinburne. You’ll get a breakdown of all their different aviation courses, hear insights on entry requirements, and get expert tips on career opportunities. They will also cover financial info, including scholarships. This info session will include:

Join this online event to explore pathways to medicine at the University of Sydney. Learn about admission requirements, application dates and timelines, and the assessment process.
