Our Building Connections page celebrates the many ways our students come together through our Senior School Co-connect and Co-curriculum programs. Each issue, we will highlight different activities, offering a glimpse into the experiences, relationships and opportunities that make these programs such a special part of life at Girton Grammar. 

Girton Racing Team update

The Girton Racing Team has enjoyed a successful and productive year so far. Our 40

 students have been developing their trike handling and manoeuvring skills while also working collaboratively within their teams to create and rehearse presentations. A particular highlight of the year was participating in the Energy Breakthrough Test and Tune event, where students had the opportunity to put their preparation and teamwork into practice.

We would also like to sincerely thank our new sponsors for their generous support of the Girton Racing Team:

• Edwards Environmental – An environmental consultancy that supported our vision with a generous donation of $1,000.  
• Gecko IT – Donated multiple refurbished computers
• Bill Wilkinson Optometrists – Kindly donated two new seatbelts for our trikes.
• Buckle Up Seatbelts – Generously donated the remaining two seatbelts required for our fleet.
• Ashby Plumbing Service – Donated funds towards the purchase of a new trike.

We are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of our sponsors, whose generosity helps provide valuable learning opportunities and resources for our students. We look forward to continuing our preparation for the Energy Breakthrough event later this year.

Staff Member in Charge (SMC) - Girton Racing Team (GFT)

New Co-Connect Activity: Woodwork Skills

Looking to learn practical skills and create something with your own hands?  Join Woodwork with Mr Simpson and Mr Beard in our exciting new Co-Connect AB activity, running on Wednesday Co-Connect sessions from 2.30 - 4.30pm.

Students will develop a range of hands-on woodworking skills while learning how to safely use a variety of tools and equipment. Throughout the program, you'll build confidence in measuring, designing, cutting, shaping, assembling and finishing timber projects.

Whether you're a complete beginner or already enjoy making things, this is a great opportunity to be creative, solve problems, and take pride in producing quality projects. Along the way, you'll gain valuable practical skills that can be used for future projects at school and beyond.

Come along, learn new skills, and discover the satisfaction of building something yourself!
