National Child Protection Week 7th-13th September 2025

This year, the National Child Protection Week’s theme is, “Every conversation matters: Shifting conversation to action,” This theme highlights the crucial role that fostering meaningful dialogue plays in building safer environments for children and young people.

This year, SCS reaffirms their commitment to the safety of all students through the release of a series of resources for teachers and parents to assist  which strengthens the important  message  that every student has the right to feel safe, at school, at home, and in the community.

Please visit this National Child Protection Week website which includes links to a series of webinars, digital resources and activities.

Help Shape Wiser Screen Habits – Parent/Carer & Student survey (10-15mins)

Our school has been invited to participate in a study on best practice screen use. Parents/carers are invited to complete a 10-15 min anonymous questionnaire and/or, if desired, give permission for their child to do a student survey at this link:

Kindergarten and Year One students will participate in an intensive five day program during Weeks Five and Six. Please view the Compass Event for the scheduled dates and times of the  program.

Parent helpers will be required for Kindergarten - Year Two. Parent volunteers are required to have completed all of the Working with Children processes.

The school's annual Swimming Carnival will be held on Friday 28th November. Details related to this event will be shared early Term Four via Compass.

Parents are requested to contact their child’s class teacher if for any reason their child cannot participate in this school based Physical Education program.

Student Attendance

School attendance plays a critical role in enhancing the lives of students in schools. Every day of attendance adds to a student’s academic achievement and success at school, and conversely every absence can impact their learning and progress.  Reasons for student absence must be provided within 7 days of the absence via the Compass portal.

Parents and carers of students who have accrued numerous days of unexplained absence or late arrivals may be asked to attend an Attendance Improvement Planning meeting.

Parents/carers may approach the school to seek permission for extended leave for their child to travel during school term. Extended leave is considered to be 5 or more days during the school term for the purpose of a family holiday, family business, bereavement or other reasons.

Parents/carers must complete and submit the Application for Extended Leave Form (A1) prior to commencing leave or apply for extended leave in writing to the principal directly.

If you have any questions regarding student attendance please contact the school office.

Staff Development Day

There will be a Staff Development Day on Friday 26th September.

Teachers will be participating in Professional Learning sessions offsite related to Curriculum Reform and the English and Mathematics Syllabus.
