2025 Armidale Zone Primary Schools Cross Country Championships

On Monday 26 , Bellevue Oval at the University of New England hosted the 2025 Armidale Zone Primary Schools Cross Country Championships.  With students representing all the primary schools from across the Zone, the times were fast and an excellent team has been selected to represent the Armidale Zone at the North West Regional Championships in June. Special thanks to Sport UNE for allowing the Primary Schools Zone Sporting Association to host this event on Bellevue Oval and the surrounding fields.

Congratulations to the champions from Ben Venue PS who are going on to represent the school and Armidale Zone at the North West Carnival at Coolah on Thursday 12 June:

Netball

Last Friday, our Ben Venue netball team played in the PSSA Netball Gala Knockout.  The day started with our first game against Sandon. As a team we were still getting our bearings but managed to pull off the win 17-4. Our next game was against Armidale City. This team has always been a tough team for us to play against but played very well together with the final score for this game being 27-3. The last game of the day was against Martin’s Gully who were the surprise team of the day who gave us a run for our money but we were fortunate to win this game 12-5. The highlight for the day for Mrs Swain and Ms Walker was how well-mannered our team was, how well they got along with each other and how they supported students from other schools. Well done team! Our next game will be against Glen Innes Public School or Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School pending their result.

A huge congratulations to Olive Russell and Matilda Tarrant in making it into the Zone Netball Team.

BVPS Soccer Teams Shine at Gala Day

Last Friday, the BVPS soccer teams showcased their determination and sportsmanship at the annual gala day, despite the chilly temperatures. The spirit of teamwork and resilience was evident as both teams took to the field with enthusiasm and commitment.

The boys' team had a remarkable start, achieving an impressive 6-0 victory against Sandon Public School. However, their journey in the competition came to an end after a challenging match against Armidale City, where they were defeated 4-1. The boys demonstrated great effort and sportsmanship throughout the day, making their school proud.

On the girls' side, the team faced a tough first half against Armidale City but rallied to secure a fantastic 4-1 victory. Their momentum continued as they dominated in their next match against Sandon Public School, sealing another win.

A special mention goes to our team captains, Eliza Magann and Archer Gray, whose leadership and support were invaluable to their teammates throughout the day. Their encouragement helped foster a positive environment on and off the field.

Excitingly, the girls' team continues their journey in the PSSA knockout competition, with their next game scheduled for early Term 3. We wish them the best of luck as they strive for further success!

AFL Championships

Congratulations to Harrison Faint, who recently competed in the AFL State Championships in Sydney. Harrison's performance and sportsmanship at the event was a credit to both him and his school.
