YEAR 10 LUNCHTIME INTERHOUSE SOCCER

Year 10 students have once again competed in the annual Interhouse Soccer competition.

After 3 days of hard fought soccer, we ended up with a draw on games and goal difference between Hotham and Macedon. So once again it was down to the final set of penalty shots to seal the win for Hotham.

A special thanks to Ben L and Arthur for their exceptional refereeing and Leo for his photography and poster design, pictured next.

Here are some photos of the three day competition to enjoy.

Year 10 Commerce – ASX Schools Sharemarket Game

Over the past eight weeks, Year 10 Commerce students have participated in the annual ASX Schools Sharemarket Game, each starting with a virtual $50,000 and a challenge to grow it by trading shares in real companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. The simulation brought theory to life, as students navigated shifting markets, tracked economic trends and reacted to global events (like Trump’s announcement of tariffs) that moved prices in real time. Every trade was a test of timing, judgement and strategy, and the competition quickly became intense.

After weeks of analysis and bold decision-making, the final results were released, with some students finishing with a portfolio valued close to $60,000. From Miss Gerbing’s class Owen L claimed first place, with Aidan S in second, and Jay V in third. From Ms Iverson’s class first place went to Cody T, second place to Cynthia D, and Brandon K came in with the wooden spoon From Mr Agisilaou’s class, first place went to Aryan P, second to Lucie W and third to James I.

The Schools Sharemarket Game proved to be more than just numbers on a screen, it gave students a glimpse into the fast-paced nature of the stock market, and offered lasting skills in financial literacy, critical thinking and real-world decision-making.
