RYDA Road Safety Program

Last week our Year 11’s participated in the RYDA Road Safety program.

The program covered everything from a very informative roadside demonstration on how long it takes to actually stop at various speeds, to getting students to assess risks that they may encounter, and discussions with crash survivors.

Our students were praised by the presenters who commented on their engagement and good conduct throughout the day.

WIN a $250 VISA Card!

Students also get the chance to win a voucher but will need the booklets they received on the day to enter.

  1. Click on the link to go to the RYDA website to enter the competition

This will only take 2 minutes to complete but you’ll need the ID number from the back of your GPS booklet.  Fill out the details of your Ryda day and tell us which session was your favourite, why and what's the most useful strategy / piece of information you took from the workshop.  This automatically enters you in the draw to win a $250 visa card.

*Remember to put your full name in the competition and also the venue you attended which was Lilydale.

 2. To provide us with more feedback please complete our survey.  This gives you a great opportunity to let us know what you learned most about and how we can make the workshop even better.  You can also go into the draw to win a $100 visa card for completing the short survey.

*Remember, the date of your workshop was 05/06/2025 and the venue you attended was Lilydale.

 3. Remember to look at the Student Resources page on our website for Reflection Journals and other great resources. Talk about what you learnt on the day with your parents or caregivers and get them on board to support your decisions.

University-level extension opportunities for 2026 senior students

If you are currently enrolled in Year 11 and are doing a unit 3 and 4 subject, this pathway may be for you. The Centre for Higher Education Studies (CHES) offers a selection of early university entry subjects as a further extension for students at Vermont Secondary College.

What is involved

Available subjects include Accounting, Human Biosciences, Construction Management, Space Industry, Sport Management, Psychology, Maths and Analysis, and many more.

Refer to Centre for Higher Education Studies – Higher Education Studies for:

  • a list of Higher Education Studies subjects on offer with click-throughs for details and pre-requisites
