Welcome back everyone to the Science page where we celebrate everything Science.

The Year 7 students have settled in and a very busy learning about the classroom, equipment and structure.

Year 8students began with Chemistry, understanding Atoms, Periodic Table and will be involved in doing many experiments throughout the rest of the term.

Year 9 students are learning about Earth and Space this term. Here they are discussing the Geosphere, Biosphere, Atmosphere and Hydrosphere. They began looking at the rock collection the Science Department purchased last year so that students can look at different varieties of rocks. The students are now moving into creating Terrariums, looking at the Earth’s spheres on a smaller scale.

Year 10 students are either doing Chemistry/Biology or both. Biology has begun with the structure of DNA and Genetics. They did an experiment investigating the extraction of DNA from fruit. Chemistry has been looking at bonding and writing Chemical equations.

VCE classes have been busy completing content and are well on the way to doing SACs.
