Creating Futures Together
Like many of you, I have recently enjoyed watching the Olympics and, more recently, the Winter Olympics. These global events provide a powerful reminder that practice, determination and consistency are the foundations of excellence. In many ways, this mirrors the educational journey of the young people in our care.
From birth, each child learns new skills and adapts to the world around them. When they begin school, that learning continues, often becoming more complex as they navigate competing priorities, growing expectations and their own unique strengths and challenges. For some, learning feels seamless. For many others, and I would suggest the majority, it requires persistence, resilience and sustained effort.
To achieve what we are truly capable of, we must remain focused on our goals, practise our skills regularly and seek support when we encounter difficulties. Just as elite athletes commit to hours of daily training and follow disciplined routines to reach their peak performance, we too must be intentional about our aspirations. Our teachers are our coaches, our community is our team, and together we can achieve what we set out to accomplish. Most importantly, we are fortunate to have the right conditions in place to pursue our own version of success, whatever that may look like.
The learning environment plays a crucial role in creating these conditions. Over the summer break, significant resources were invested in the upkeep and improvement of our College. We are pleased to share that the external painting of all buildings has now been completed, greatly enhancing the appearance of our campus. We also undertook a number of compliance inspections to ensure the continued safety of our community, and the gym floor was resurfaced to maintain a stadium-standard facility for our students.
A few weeks into the term, our Year 7 students embarked on their Transition Camp at Mt Evelyn. By all accounts, this was an outstanding success—helped along by favourable weather. I would like to extend a special congratulations to our Year 7 cohort. The camp providers specifically commended your behaviour and exemplary manners. You have already proven to be wonderful ambassadors for our College in such a short time. What a fantastic start to your secondary schooling journey!
To further enrich the student experience and foster connection, a range of clubs are now available at lunchtime and after school. These are facilitated by staff members who generously share their time and passion for these activities. Please keep an eye on the College newsfeed for updates, and do not hesitate to contact the relevant staff member if you have any questions. We will continue to inform the community as additional clubs become available.

Table 1 below outlines the percentage of students in each year level with 100% “accounted for” attendance from the beginning of the school year until the end of the week identified (eg. Term 1 Week 5 / T1W5).
Accounted for attendance is inclusive of students marked present or late on their class rolls plus explained reasons for absences recorded on a student’s Compass profile by home or the college. Student attendance must be accounted for every day; this is mandatory as per the Department of Education’s attendance guidelines.

Parents/carers please ensure your students’ absences have a reason recorded on Compass. You can update this via the Compass mobile app or Compass webpage using your parent login details. If you are unable to login to the Compass Parent Portal, contact the College.
If your student has been marked absent to Period 1 by 9:05AM, a automatic SMS is sent which includes a one-time link. The link takes you to the attendance portal so you can enter an absence reason so your student is “accounted for”.
