Dear Families: This isn’t a step back in time (and your child isn’t really 'bored'...)

 

As a school, we are always reflecting on and strengthening our teaching practices to ensure they are based on the best available research. The attached article (linked in the title) helps explain some of the changes you may be noticing in classrooms, particularly around a stronger focus on explicit teaching, knowledge-building, and carefully sequenced learning. 

 

While these approaches may look different from what families experienced at school, they are not a step backwards—they are grounded in evidence about how students learn best. By reducing unnecessary distractions and focusing on clear, structured learning, we are supporting students to build strong foundations, deepen their understanding, and feel more confident as learners over time.
