Ramadan Kareem

As the blessed month of Ramadan begins, we extend our warm wishes of Ramadan Kareem to our Muslim students and their families within our school community.

Ramadan is a sacred month in Islam observed by Muslims around the world, including here in Australia. It is a time of fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, reflection, charity, and strengthening community bonds. Many of our students will be observing the fast, which includes refraining from food and drink during daylight hours. While fasting is an important spiritual practice, Ramadan is also about cultivating patience, gratitude, compassion, and self-discipline.

In a public school setting, we are proud to celebrate the diversity of our community. Acknowledging Ramadan reflects our commitment to respect, inclusion, and understanding. During this month, some students may feel more tired than usual, particularly in the late afternoon. Families may also be gathering in the evenings for prayer and to break their fast together.

We encourage all members of our school community to show kindness and consideration, and to take this opportunity to learn more about the rich traditions and values that Ramadan represents. Simple gestures—such as offering words of encouragement or being mindful during lunchtime—can help our students feel supported and valued.

To our Muslim students and families, we wish you a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan. May this month bring you reflection, strength, and joy.

Ramadan Kareem.
