PETAA Young Writers Program

PETAA Young Writers Program
Selected students from Years 2–6 were invited to participate in a writing workshop as part of the PETAA Young Writers Program. Visiting author Jodi Toering worked with students to develop their creative writing skills and explore ways to engage and captivate their audience.
Throughout the workshop, students learned about creating mood, developing characters, using figurative language and the importance of showing, not telling in their writing. They were challenged to think deeply, experiment with new techniques and refine their ideas as writers.
All students who participated commented on how much they enjoyed the experience and appreciated the opportunity to extend and challenge their writing skills. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm, creativity and confidence grow throughout the session.
Eva Ambler - So inspiring and intriguing, I definitely want to do this every day. It stretched my brain and encouraged me to do more creative writing. This great workshop challenged me in a really fun way. I hope I will do this again because it was an amazing experience.
Will Amer - PETAA Writing was a fun and challenging experience.
Hettie Noble - The PETAA writing extension course was REALLY FUN! It was engaging and the presenter (Jodi Toering) was a lot of fun. I loved how we got to get involved with the activities and not just sit there the whole day.
Rose King – The workshop was really fun and it is a great way to learn new writing skills.
Hugo Rayner – The workshop was fun and it taught me new things that I had not done yet.
Audrey Holden-Humber – I really love writing and Jodi’s books told me a lot about her and her life.
Thanks,
Kezz
