Faith and Family Matters

Wanting to Become Catholic or know of someone who Does? Please email the Parish asap on maia@lindfieldkillara.org.au or Mrs Gray on anne.gray1@dbb.catholic.edu.au in order to find out when we are starting with the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA)This is a personal testimony from Vincent Chiang who recently became Catholic in the Parish....
"For me, the RCIA journey is life changing. It has been one of the most meaningful and grounding experiences. It has provided me with opportunities to connect, reflect and share with others. It gave me the opportunity to slow down, ask difficult questions, and explore faith in a genuine and thoughtful way. What surprised me most was how welcoming and supportive the community was. Both during the program, and also afterwards. It is an amazing community.
RCIA helped me better understand the importance of purpose and service to others and gave me a stronger sense of direction in both my personal and professional life. For anyone considering RCIA, I would encourage you to take the step."
Seniors & Seniors Companionship Morning
A special thank you to our wonderful senior students!
Today, our senior students sang beautifully during our companionship morning tea with the parish community. They sang warmly and confidently, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles during their conversations with the senior members of our parish community.
It truly reflected what a meaningful and worthwhile experience it was for everyone involved.
FIRST EUCHARIST
There were two beautiful celebrations of First Eucharist on the weekend. Thank you to all the parents who helped form their children for the Sacrament - supporting what they learn at school from our wonderful teachers. This weekend at the 10.15 children's Mass there will be one more Year 4 group celebrating the Sacrament.

Thank you to all the generosity you have shown in donating snack packs to Vinnies!
We have had a wonderful response and Vinnies is overwhelmed by our generosity. I hope you had some fruitful discussions at home too about homelessness and how every little gesture of kindness from us can go a long way to helping those we don't even know.
Save the Date for our Winter Family Sleepout for the homeless on Friday 7 August 6 - 9 pm.
What is it? A time for our families to be in the shoes of homeless families to create awareness in our children of those in the wider community who need our love and accompaniment.
What do you do? We bring a sleeping bag, warm clothes, cardboard to sleep on and we have a sleepout in the cold as families for half an hour from 6.30 - 7 pm.
Is Dinner provided? Yes we will start with a prayer and a simple dinner at 6 pm like that of a homeless person. This is why registration is important so we can cater for you!
Do I have to stay the whole time? Preferably yes but if your children are young and not used to staying up late then they can leave at 7 pm.
What happens from 7 - 8.30 pm? We listen to a guest speaker, have some games that raise awareness about homelessness and write a Card of Hope to go with out with our next Parent Vinnies team.
Why do it? Because as a Catholic school, raising our students to care for those on the margins of society is exactly what we see Jesus doing in the Gospel! We want to bring up kind, compassionate children who never just think solely about themselves but care for strangers too.
Does it cost? We are inviting you to donate per family on the night. A QR code will be provided. Our key aim is educational not to fund raise.
Do I have to be there with my child for the whole Sleepout? Yes.

Taize Prayer Night at Mercy College for the Feast of the Sacred Heart. What a beautiful hour of prayer and song we had! Thank you to all the families that came to experience this special evening. Holy Family was the only school that had families attending - all were those that were recently baptised. The heart of Jesus was truly present in their hearts and all those who witnessed their attendance.
First Eucharist Church Tour
In the last two weeks Year 4 and their parents were treated with a tour of the Church from Fr Colin. It was a very interesting and thoroughly enjoyable learning experience for them and very timely before their First Eucharist on the weekend. Next Sunday there is one more group to do so. We pray that they continue joyously in this journey of faith together with their parents and us as a faith community supporting them.
