The Fathering Project:
Groovin' with Dad Disco
Our Mackellar community came together on Friday evening for a whole-school disco as part of our Term 2 Fathering Project event, creating an unforgettable evening of laughter, dancing and meaningful connections. It was wonderful to see fathers, grandfathers, uncles and father figures sharing the dance floor with their children, creating special memories that will be cherished for years to come.
The pleasant weather allowed families to make the most of the outdoor spaces, while the sausage sizzle gave parents an opportunity to connect and build relationships with other members of our school community.
A special thank you goes to Schae from Jellybean Entertainment, whose enthusiasm, music selection, disco lights and smoke machine helped create a fun and energetic atmosphere throughout the evening. The dance floor was buzzing as Schae hosted a range of competitions, including musical statues, with lucky winners receiving Bunnings and Hoyts Cinema vouchers.
We were also delighted to welcome Terry McAleenan, the Victorian Schools Manager for The Fathering Project, who was impressed by the positive atmosphere and the genuine connections between fathers and their children throughout the evening. During his speech, he highlighted the importance of events such as these in creating opportunities for families to connect, celebrate and strengthen relationships within our school community.
A special thank you is also extended to our dedicated staff members who generously volunteered their time to help make the evening such a such a wonderful event: Daniel, Elyse, Jan, Tanya, Jo, Simon, Shannon, Jack, Shelley and Donna. Thank you also to Nicole and Rodney for their assistance with the preparations leading up to the event.
Thank you to all families who attended and helped make the evening such a tremendous success. We look forward to future Fathering Project events that continue to foster strong, positive relationships between fathers, father figures and their children through meaningful shared experiences.
