School Council meeting 26th May 2025

Prior this month's School Council meeting on Monday 26th May, the 2024 Annual Report presentation to the community was held. The school presented the highlights and work that was achieved last year.

School Council then met after this for the May meeting. Governance training for all school council members was conducted on 28th April and feedback from the organisers on the school’s processes was positive. There were some minor clarifications.

JSC representatives Danni from Grade 3 and Emerson from Grade 6 presented their

report to school council including the success of Education Week, which took place

last week.

School Council would like to welcome Nerida Rixon to School Council who has been confirmed as our new co-opted parent member - we're glad to have her on board!

The Victorian Department of Education has updated their school uniform policy. This

has prompted a review of the shorts for the school sports uniform to ensure it complies;

School Council will review the school's Dress Code Policy in June. An update will be sent to families by the end of term.

Jarrod delivered the Principal's Report and updated us on several key areas:

• School tours have been popular this year, particularly from within and out-of-zone families.

• The applications and information sessions for Grade 6-7 transition were completed successfully.

• Both the 3/4 and 5/6 camps were successful and the students had great experiences.

Tom reported on the Resources committee meeting. The 2025 Cash Budget was endorsed now that it has been confirmed by DET.

Updates were completed to

Financial Authority delegations following the council elections. Only a few residual

defects remain requiring rectification work in order to complete the recent capital

works. Movie Night was again a great success and feedback from Mothers’ Day Open

day also positive.

Elisha shared updates from the Education Committee:

• An easy-to-understand visual for our 2025 Annual Implementation Plan has been

developed.

• A review of our complaints policy has been completed and the student engagement and wellbeing policy is currently under review.

School council also discussed ways to improve communication with parents with aims to allow both parents to be subscribed to school newsletter emails, with the option to opt out if preferred.

Looking ahead, plans are underway for an evening social outing for fathers on

September 5th, celebrating Father's Day, and the Term 3 school fundraising event, which is the parent social evening has been tagged for September 6th. A new opportuntity for this is being looked into at the moment. Save the dates!
