From the Assistant Principal

Dear Families,
NAPLAN 2026
2026 Naplan assessments begin next week. The following schedule was sent to Year 3 and 5 families last week. Students who are absent for any of the assessments will complete them upon return to school, prior to the 20th March.
LEAVING SCHOOL EARLY
Parents are requested not to take their child/children out of school early as teaching time is very limited and very precious. Dental, medical appointments, weekend trips away and after school activities should be made outside of school hours, leaving enough time from the end of the school day prior to the appointment or activity.
If it becomes necessary for a student to leave school before the official finishing time, parents must come to the office and sign students out. Leaving school early is recorded as a partial absence and included in semester reports.
If leaving early, a note must be sent to the class teacher or emailed to the office before or on the morning of the day students need to leave early.
UNIFORM EXPECTATIONS
We ask all families to ensure that students are meeting the school’s uniform and grooming requirements each day.
As a reminder and in keeping with the school’s expectations in this area:
- Hair must be kept in its natural colour. Bleaching, streaking, dyeing or coloured extensions are not permitted.
- Boys must have an appropriate haircut. Severely shaved sides, mohawk styles, and mullets with hair extending below the collar are not allowed.
Hair below the shoulder (girls and boys) should be TIED BACK AT ALL TIMES.
All other uniform expectations remain in place, including:
- Uniform worn neatly.
- Jewellery limited to studs/sleepers.
- Hats kept clean and free of graffiti.
- Joggers are worn only on sports days and are predominantly white.
- Black leather school shoes are worn with the school uniform.
- Accessories (eg hair ties) should be navy blue or for girls the tunic fabric
If students present at school in a fashion that is in opposition to the school’s uniform policy, the following process will be followed:
- The first occasion: The teacher will speak with the child regarding the uniform policy and the actions required to be in the correct uniform
- The second occasion: The teacher will contact the parent of the student via Compass to explain the actions required to meet uniform policy
- The third occasion: The teacher will speak with the Assistant Principal or Principal who will contact the parent via phone call to explain the immediate actions required to meet uniform policy
- Repeated occasions: Principal will request a meeting with the parents to explain, in detail, the issue in relation to the uniform policy
ASSEMBLY AWARDS
At most of our weekly whole school assemblies, Gold, Silver and Diamond awards are presented to students. Parents automatically receive an email and compass app notification for all Silver, Gold and Diamond awards. The automated message indicates that these awards will be presented at the next assembly.
If you are unable to be present for the 'next' assembly, please contact the office and request the award be held over until the next time you can come. We are unable to hold over class merit awards.
Have a great week,
Jim Heelis
Assistant Principal
