Year 12 Final Days

Final Assembly and Celebration Day

Over a decade of schooling culminated in two final days for the Class of 2025 on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 October. Celebrated by students and teachers alike, these two days are both anticipated and dreaded by every Nossal student since their entrance into the school.

It is a bittersweet farewell, a commemoration of their journey at the school as they step out of the gym for the final time – remarkably, the very same gym they first stepped in as a nervous Year 9.

The final assembly is what is the event most looked forward to many year 12’s. It was a joy to see the students dressed up as different things, a final goodbye to the school that had given us so much.  In the final assembly, we heard speeches of encouragement and reflection from our school captains, Wilbur, Sejal, Kylinda and Anhad and a final sendoff performance for the year 12 Bollywood and K-Dance club members. The assembly was then ended with the year 12 videos.  The atmosphere was filled with laughter, nostalgia and a few tears as the memory of the past four years had come flooding back.

There were a lot of finals in that hour, the final assembly, the final sending off for the year 12’s, the final time the rest of the school got to see the graduating class. But the most emphatic final was when the cohort walked into the courtyard together. For many, the cheers, hugs and smiles turned into tears, others were resolute in their preparation for the exams.

Celebration day was what came next, the class of 2025, many in their white T-Shirts, a homage to their first event together as the graduating class at camp, stepped into the gym for one more event. T-shirt signing, a remark of the bonds that have been forged in our time at Nossal. From supportive words to the scribbles on people’s shirt to supportive words from teachers and promises to meet again after exams. In the final hours of the school day, there were games of dodgeball, capture the flag and a whole year 12 barbeque.

The most memorable activity of the day was the burst of colour that swept across the oval as students and teachers alike took part in the Holi powder celebration. What began as a simple countdown quickly became a vibrant explosion of purple, blue, red, yellow and green. For a few minutes, there were no exams, no worries - just a sea of colour and smiles as friends celebrated the end of their journey together.

The four years at Nossal have been immensely memorable. From the nervous excitement of year 9, to the tearful goodbyes of year 12. This school has truly given us so much. Thank you, Nossal, for the memoires, the opportunities and the journey that shaped us to who we are today.
