Draw Near Project
From August to October, St Brigid's School in partnership with St Gabriel's School, and the Clearview Kilburn Parish will participate in a social justice project called the Draw Near Project.
The Draw Near Project illustrates the link between being Faith filled and seeking justice in our daily lives. The project uses a simple framework - the head, heart, hands model of community engagement. This entails participants learning about faith in the context of a social issue and then having the opportunity to respond in a practical manner. This year, the Draw Near Project will focus of Refugee, Migrants and Asylum Seekers. Last week our staff, families and parishioners attended a presentation from the Archdiocese team on Refugees, Migrants and Asylum Seekers, learning about the concerns, challenges, and the celebrations, from refugee, migrants and asylum seekers. It was revealed that Kilburn has the highest number of refugees in Adelaide.
In class our students have been learning about Social Justice and our 'Call to Action'.
From this learning, we are now asking families to support in a practical way. We are asking for donations, see below, which we will collect and donate to Vinnies Refugee and Asylum Seeker Service. Each class will have a box for donations and ALL donations will be gratefully received.
Religious Literacy Assessment Tool (ReLAT)
Religious Education (RE) is a core Learning Area in all Catholic schools. It is a foundation for all learning and is integrated into the life of the school through prayer, liturgy and social justice programs. Our Year 4 students will be participating in an assessment in Religious Education. This annual assessment has been developed by the Catholic Education Office and will take place during Week 8 of Term 3, 2024 (Mon 9 September – Fri 13 September).
Father's Day
As we approach Father’s Day, it’s a time for reflection and celebration of the special men in our lives who guide and influence us. We recognise that these occasions can be challenging for some families, and we hold you in our thoughts and prayers.
May God's blessing and strength be with all of us as we honour these important figures in our lives. During this time we are reminded that Jesus taught his apostles the very special prayer to God "Our Father" which Catholics continue to say regularly.
Children's Liturgy
The next Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be at St Brigid’s Church on Sunday 1st September at 9am.
Children's liturgy is a wonderful way for the children to have a better understanding of the Gospel of the day’s Liturgy and grow in appreciating the structure and the richness of the liturgy of the word section of the Mass.
Future dates for Children’s Liturgy are:
Sunday 1st September
Sunday 8th September
Sunday 15th September
