Spotlight on PE

In PE the students have been doing a range of new sports and

Prep - Gymnastics

These past three weeks the students have learnt some floor gymnastics.  Students are mastering travels, jumps, and balances in PE to build the essential core strength, body control, and coordination needed for active everyday play. These fun gymnastics movements teach children how to safely jump and land, while building the overall physical confidence they need to enjoy sports and playground games.  Students have been working on a small routine that they have chosen to present to the class this week.  We can't wait to see these.

Year 1 & 2 - Taekwondo

We have been lucky to have Benecia from WeiWu Taekwondo running our  Taekwondo classes these past three weeks.  Students have learnt kicking, blocking, and footwork drills that enhance balance, agility, and overall body awareness. If you ask their child, they may be able to show you a hook, side, roundhouse, front, axe kick or a body/face punch, spear hand or palm strike or show you some sparring.  This week they are very excited to finish off with some board breaking.

If your child is keen to continue Taekwondo, at the bottom of this information you can find further details from Weiwu Taekwondo.

Year 3 - Golf

Our Year 3 students are putting their skills to the test this term by mastering the fundamentals of golf putting! The children have been learning the 'GASS' principle—focusing on their Grip, Aim, Stance, and Swing—and practicing these skills through a variety of fun putting games.

To finish off the unit, students were working in groups to design and build their very own creative putt-putt courses using school equipment. This exciting project combines physical coordination with teamwork, spatial design, and cooperative problem-solving as students collaborate to build a course that is both challenging and fun for their peers. They then got to test everyone else's and had lots of fun trialling the varied par courses.

Year 4 - Creating Games

This term, our Year 4 students are stepping up as game designers by learning how to create and modify their own cooperative games. Instead of playing to win, students are collaborating to design rules and goals where everyone must work together to succeed, boosting their critical thinking, communication, and collective problem-solving skills.

This hands-on approach teaches children the value of inclusivity and compromise, building essential teamwork and empathy that they will carry back into the classroom and onto the playground. The students have had the opportunity to teach these to the other students in the class and hopefully we can use these in classes to come.

Year 5&6 - Boxing Fitness

Our Year 5 and 6 students have just completed a 4 week non-contact boxing fitness to boost their cardiovascular endurance, core strength, and hand-eye coordination. This high-energy program offered a safe, structured outlet for students to channel their energy, build physical confidence, and develop focus and self-control.  Students were taught how to punch pads (jab/cross - hook, uppercuts), duck, kick - push kick and knee drives in various combinations and amongst various cardiovascular exercises.  The students seemed to enjoy the experience and hopefully they can show you a thing or two.
