Religious Education

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe.

The care, safety and well-being of children and young people

It is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

On August 15, we celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Feast of the Assumption of Mary is a beautiful celebration of God’s love and the special place Mary holds in the life of the Church. So revered is Mary in the Catholic Church that it is actually a Holy Day of Obligation, one of only two, the other being Christmas Day.

On this day, we remember that at the end of her life on earth, Mary was taken body and soul into heaven. This is not only a truth about Mary, but also a message of hope for all of us who follow Jesus. Every day we are surrounded by messages telling us what success looks like.  Be popular.  Be perfect.  Get noticed. Build your image. Measure your worth by likes, followers and achievements.

The feast of the Assumption offers a completely different vision.

The Assumption of Mary celebrates a young woman who trusted God, chose courage over comfort and lived with a heart focused on others rather than herself. Mary’s life reminds us that greatness is not about being famous. It is about being faithful.                                                     The Church celebrates that Mary’s journey did not end with death but with the fullness of life in God. That promise is not only for Mary. It is God’s hope for every one of us.

As we work together at St Louis’, may we discover what it means to live lives that matter, lives shaped by hope, courage and compassion.

Thanks to our awesome Faith and Social Justice Team, Nipcy, Lucas, Chloe, Iden, Nate and Tom who ran 3 liturgies today for all our St Louis' students. And thanks to our incredible artists in Yr 6 who illustrated the most magnificient portraits of  'Mary the Mother of God'.
