Quantum Victoria Print a Car Competition

This is our second year entering the Quantum Victoria Print a Car Competition, and we are incredibly proud of our brand-new teams: Quantum Racing and Aero Racing, consisting of Henry, Xavier, Liam, Lachlan, Charlotte, Lexi, Somer, and Isobel.

Both teams have been working tirelessly throughout the year to design, refine and produce highly aerodynamic and precise 3D-printed car models for this prestigious competition. Students have demonstrated an impressive combination of design thinking, CAD skills, 3D printing, problem-solving, collaboration, and perseverance throughout the process.

The semi-finals will take place on Friday 28 August, where our students will compete against teams from across Victoria for the prestigious Top Racer award. The competition is highly demanding, with students judged not only on the speed and performance of their car on the track, but also on the quality of their folio, design process, documentation and understanding of their engineering decisions.

This year, we deliberately selected relatively young teams, meaning our students will potentially be competing against experienced Year 11 and 12 students. Despite this, they have already demonstrated resilience, determination, and technical skills well beyond their years. They have embraced challenges, learnt from setbacks, and continually refined their designs to improve their performance.

Both teams have learnt an enormous amount throughout the competition, not only about engineering and technology, but also about teamwork, communication, planning, problem-solving, and the importance of perseverance.

We are incredibly proud of the progress they have made and the commitment they have shown. We are confident that Quantum Racing and Aero Racing will wear their McClelland College uniforms with pride and represent our school with professionalism, enthusiasm, and determination.

Whatever the result on race day, these students have already achieved something significant. We could not be prouder of them and look forward to seeing them take on the best young racers from across Victoria at the semi-finals.
