Book Week is back at McClelland for 2026!

Book Week is back at McClelland College for 2026 and we have an exciting week of activities planned for Week 7 of Term 3!
This year, students will have plenty of opportunities to get involved, celebrate their creativity and, most importantly, share in our love of books and reading.
Throughout Book Week, students can take part in:
Book-Art Competitions — get creative and bring the world of books to life through art!
Junior and Senior Creative Writing Competitions — an opportunity for our budding writers to showcase their imagination and storytelling skills.
Book Fair — running all week in the IC!
For the first time, McClelland College will be hosting a week-long Book Fair in partnership with Larrikin House. Students, families and staff will have the opportunity to purchase from a fantastic range of books, with a strong focus on manga, graphic novels and young adult fiction, as well as fun novelty items. EFTPOS will be available throughout the week.
Even better, 20% of the proceeds from the Book Fair will go directly towards rejuvenating and expanding the book collection in our Information Centre, helping us put even more great books into the hands of our students.
The IC will also be open during recess and lunch all week for students who'd like to browse and shop independently.
Book Week Parade — Thursday 27 August
One of our favourite Book Week traditions is also returning! Students and staff are encouraged to dress as a favourite book character or author, or come together with friends and classmates for a book-themed group costume.
We can't wait to see the creativity on display!
Students interested in entering the competitions or finding out more about the activities available throughout the week can visit Kirsten Boxall in the Library (IC).
Book Week is a wonderful opportunity for our whole school community to celebrate reading, creativity and literacy, and we would love our parents and carers to join us in encouraging students to get involved, whether that's entering a competition, choosing a new book at the Book Fair, dressing up for the parade, or simply discovering something new to read.
We look forward to celebrating Book Week 2026 with our McClelland College community!
If you have any questions about Book Week, please contact Kirsten Boxall, Suzie Dubocanin or Maddy Plunkett.
