Frankston & City Excursions

Our Photography students have been out and about, cameras in hand, exploring Melbourne and discovering inspiration in places both familiar and completely new!
Our first stop was the Frankston Arts Centre, where students had the opportunity to experience the exhibition celebrating Frankston’s 60th birthday. The exhibition gave students a wonderful opportunity to explore how photography can document a place, its people, history and changing identity.
From Frankston, we headed into the city for a full day of photographic exploration. We began at South Melbourne Market, where students captured the colour, movement, people, textures and atmosphere of this vibrant Melbourne landmark. From there, we walked our way towards Docklands, stopping along the way to photograph whatever caught their eye.
What made the day particularly exciting was seeing students venture into areas of Melbourne they had never visited before. They explored new streets, discovered unexpected photographic opportunities and experimented with different perspectives, compositions and subjects.
Yes, it was a BIG day of walking, but the enthusiasm never disappeared! Students embraced the challenge, had plenty of laughs along the way and, most importantly, produced some excellent photographs.
It was fantastic to see students becoming more confident in making creative decisions, looking at their surroundings with a photographer’s eye and finding beauty and interest in everyday places.
