Red Cliffs Secondary College Newsletter Report
February 2026
The 2026 school year at Red Cliffs Secondary College has started successfully, with students resuming program and settling into routines. As the new school principal, I have been excited to get to know staff and students and understand the culture of the school. In the first weeks there has been a great atmosphere of collegiality and enthusiasm to set up the students for successful learning and pathways for their educational journeys. My thanks go to Josh Willersdorf who has been in the Acting Principal position and has supported a smooth transition for me to be able to integrate into the school.
A measure of the positive culture of a school is the way they welcome new people into the learning community. I would like to commend the staff and students on the way they have welcomed me to the school, along with other new staff and our year 7 students.
It has been terrific to see students showing pride in their school by wearing school uniform, following school routines and taking responsibility for their learning. I have already had the opportunity to visit many classrooms to observe teacher practice and students getting into their learning. I look forward to reviewing their learning data with our teachers to ensure all students are making great progress in all areas of their learning. We look forward to celebrating successes of students as they participate in NAPLAN at year 7 and 9 later this term.
There has been strong attendance data to start the year, with our student services team following up on absences with families. Please remember to contact the school if your child is away. It is crucial that students are at school every day to participate fully in their learning and set themselves up for success.
We are looking forward to some important dates for our school community in coming weeks including the House Swimming Carnival, Year 7 BBQ and the Investiture Ceremony. I hope to be able to connect with many of you during these important events.
Thank you for your commitment to Red Cliffs Secondary College and l look forward to working constructively with you in the coming year.
Regards,

Ben Nicholson
Principal
