Year 3/4 Camp
On the 28th to the 29th, the 3's and 4's went to camp CAMPASPE DOWNS.
It was an amazing 2 days, and we did many activities. My favourite part of the camp was the flying fox, and my favourite meal was tacos for dinner. We would like to thank all the Teachers and teacher helpers for supporting us with all the activities and for cleaning up after us when we made a mess. It was the best camp ever.
Jacob
When we got off the bus, we took our bags into the main room and El, our camp leader, took us on a tour of the camp. We were all excited to see our cabins and have a sleepover with our friends. We had our own ensuite, and the beds were very comfortable.

We learnt that a very important part of camp is the food! We all sat down in the dining hall for dinner and enjoyed going around and choosing different foods; it felt like we were in high school! Breakfast was fun and instead of a salad bar, there was a cereal bar! We had hash browns that were so good! We finished with hamburgers for lunch before we got on the bus to go home.
Alice
I really enjoyed the camp activities. My favourite activities were the flying fox because it was fast, and I got to feel the breeze, and my second favourite was the Possum Glider because I could jump in the air and have fun.

Finnan Shines at State Track and Field Championships
Last Thursday, November 6th, Finnan Howley proudly represented Holy Cross at the School Sport Victoria State Track and Field Championships, held at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. This prestigious event brings together the fastest, highest and strongest young athletes from across Victoria, each having progressed through district, division and regional competitions to earn their place at the State Championships.
Finnan was our sole representative and competed in both the 800m and 1500m events. In the 800 metres, Finnan ran strongly to finish 8th in the state, an incredible result in a field of 16 of Victoria’s best runners. Later in the afternoon, at 4.50 pm, he lined up again for the 1500 metres. Feeling more confident and well-prepared, Finnan gave it everything and achieved an outstanding 5th place in the state.
Showing true dedication and energy, Finnan even managed to make it home in time for his Futsal game that evening! He described the day as a great experience and is now looking forward to competing at the National Championships in Canberra after qualifying through his performances representing Holy Cross.
We couldn’t be prouder of Finnan’s effort, perseverance and positive attitude. Congratulations, Finnan, you have represented yourself and Holy Cross with excellence!
Gisborne Foodbank Christmas Drive
This Christmas season, our school is proud to once again support the Gisborne Foodbank in their wonderful work helping local families in need. Each year, the Foodbank puts together around 130 Christmas hampers to spread some festive cheer to those who may be doing it tough and we’re excited to play our part!
Just like our Easter collection, we’ll have a tub in each classroom where students and families can donate Christmas goods, non-perishable treats and festive items that will help make someone’s holiday a little brighter.
Please have all donations in by Friday, 5th December, so we can deliver them to the Foodbank in time for their big packing day on Tuesday, 9th December.
Every item, big or small, helps make a difference. Thank you for your generosity and community spirit, together, we can help make Christmas special for everyone in our community.
