Year 3/4 Keyhole Narratives

Our Keyhole Narratives began with an art lesson where the students imagined peering through a keyhole into the outside world. An artwork was completed to bring their vision to life and to act as the stimulus for a narrative. The students planned and composed their narrative and then spent a great deal of time revising and editing their pieces. They were challenged to revise and edit in two ways, once like an author who would look to make improvements and refinements to their narrative, and then again like a secretary who would find and fix all of the errors that they could.

All of our Keyhole Narratives are now published and up on display outside our room. If you have a moment, stop by, unlock your imagination and share in the joy of their writing.

 Year 5 Poetry Unit

The Year 5 students have been studying William Wordsworth's "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" poem. This poem provided a wonderful example of Romantic ideals and poetic techniques for students to emulate and adapt.

The Year 5 students experimented with a familiar natural setting of their choice such as a river, bushland, waterfall, etc and elevated it by describing it with intense sensory details and emotional significance to create their own beautiful poems.
